A Winter Prayer

Heavenly Father, as the days grow cold help us to remember the warmth of your love. Remind us of the blessings we have; a warm home, a loving family, and good friends. Keep us mindful of those who are not so blessed. May we spread the warmth of your love to those whose hearts may grow cold during this season.

As the days grow short and the nights grow long, help us to remember the light of your countenance. Remind us that you, who dwell in unapproachable light, chose to draw near to us. You sent your Son into our darkness to rescue us. May we, who have seen your light, be faithful to shine your light into the darkness, so that those who wander may find their way home.

As we survey the leafless trees and flowerless fields, may we remember that death is but the beginning of resurrection. Remind us that spring time is coming, and with it will come Easter, new life, and rebirth for the world. May we be encouraged to hold to faith, knowing that new life is just around the corner.

Amen.
